Hope Overflowing

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit—Romans 15:13

Our God is the God of hope. And our hope cannot disappoint, because the One in whom we hope is faithful and does not change or fail. Our hope is in Him, that He is who He claims to be and will do all he has promised. We can hope in Him because He has demonstrated His love and care for us not only in bringing us into existence, but also in coming to be among us as one of us, to die at our hands and show His power by rising from the dead, canceling sin and conquering the hold of death over us. We can trust Him because He has proven His faithfulness in Christ, accomplishing what the prophets foretold. By trusting in Him hope will be ours—hope for this life because all fears can be cast upon Him and He will deal with them and their roots, and hope for the life to come.

Lord God, how great are Your works! Even the fraction of them I can discern is more than I can fully appreciate. All You have done is out of love, and in love You have given me hope. You are the God of hope, the only true God and Father of all, and You are good, offering Your perfect love to cast out fear and offering me Your very nature—love and hope and joy and peace—if I will only trust You, and trust in You. Give me a greater measure of Your Spirit so that in Your power I might overflow with Your hope, reliable and trustworthy hope, as I trust in You and You fill me with all joy and peace. Help me, Lord, and increase my belief through Your Spirit, that I may know this joy and peace in You.

Trust Him. He is powerful and faithful, and He loves you. Through this trust and by the power of the Holy Spirit, be filled with all joy and peace. Trust Him.
